Dr. Marissa Sparrow, BSc, DC
Dr. Sparrow completed her undergraduate education at the University of Winnipeg, and her chiropractic education at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto, ON. In June of 2013, she graduated Summa Cum Laude with Clinic Honours. Her goal with every patient is to put you at ease as soon as you walk through her door. Your comfort is her priority. She aims to build rapport, earn your trust, and get to know you and your story. She is dedicated to providing great patient care and expects her patients to give feedback and ask questions whenever they arise. She hopes to work alongside patients who become actively involved in their treatment plans to decrease their pain, restore proper function, and ultimately improve their overall quality of life. She has a particular interest in those with chronic pain, determined to find that “glimmer of hope” that even chronic pain can change. Often discussing other factors that can make our experience of pain worse, such as stress, poor sleep, anxiety or low mood, she encourages you to look at pain through this multi-faceted lens. She also has an interest in helping patients navigate the fear, worry, and apprehension of returning to activity following an injury. Speaking from a place of shared experience, her history of competitive rock climbing has given her first-hand experience with a variety of injuries, as well as the frustration of “learning it the hard way” when returning to activity too soon or too aggressively following injury. Her aim is to discuss a safer, smarter, and more progressive way of returning to activity, aiming to mitigate the re-injury risk. Her preferred style of care is low-force adjusting, with a heavier focus on muscle work, utilizing myofascial release and/or RAPID Neurofascial Reset. She is also trained and offers manual and drop piece adjustments, extremity manipulation and instrument-assisted soft tissue therapy. Outside of the office, she is an avid DIY-er, working on her house and/or the clinic, refinishing/ refurbishing/building furniture, or crafting. She keeps active with rock climbing and outdoor activities with her dog, Zoey.
